Jordanhill Community Choir is a friendly group of people who are prepared to put in just a little hard work, and in the process have plenty of fun.  Formed in 1996 to provide an opportunity in the locality to sing together, the Choir has filled a gap in the choral scene.  Boasting up to 40 members from the community, campus and Church, the Choir has no great pretensions, but simply caters for those who are motivated by the love of singing together, whilst bringing pleasure to their audiences and raising money for good causes.

Recognising that many people lead busy lives, the Choir meets on a fortnightly basis (on Thursdays at 7.30 p.m.) and, accordingly, undertakes a limited number of performances each year, usually three.  Apart from an annual Christmas Carol Service, our activities have varied from a performance of Vivaldi’s “Gloria” to an African Singing Workshop, and from combined choirs’ events to performing excerpts from “The Armed Man” by Karl Jenkins.  Alongside this programme, we also find the time for social activities such as pot-luck suppers and wine tastings.

Whilst we do have Members with a background in choral singing, there is an open-access “no audition” policy.  This has opened up a welcome opportunity for potential Members to come back to singing after many years of not being in a choir, or even to be attracted to singing in a choir for the first time—and live to tell the tale!

Further information is available from the Church Office (959 2496).

New members will be made very welcome. Do come and join us!
